PERU, BOLIVIA: The best of Peru and Bolivia (16 days)

1st day: flight to Lima – Lima
Meeting at the airport, flight to Peru. Arrival to Lima. Meeting with the guide, transfer to the hotel. Welcome drink. Overnight in Lima.

2nd day: Lima
Breakfast at your hotel. Visiting colonial Lima (UNESCO World Heritage Site) founded by Francis Pizarro: Plaza de Armas, church of St. Francis, Government’s and Archbishop’s Palaces. Welcome lunch. A visit to “The Gold Museum” with collections of unique pottery, jewellery and textiles from pre-Inca cultures times. Overnight in Lima.

3rd day: Lima – Paracas – Ballestas Islands – Nazca
Early departure by bus to Paracas. Breakfast (box). Boat trip to Ballestas – islands known as the “Peruvian Galapagos” (photo safari with cormorants, vultures, penguins and sea lions). Transfer to Ica. Lunch. Transfer to Nazca by bus. Stop at the lookout tower – the first contact with the Nazca lines: figure of hand and tree. Transfer to the hotel, accommodation. Overnight in Nazca.

4th day: Nazca – Arequipa
Breakfast at your hotel. Optional flight over the lines on the Nazca Plateau (UNESCO World Heritage Site, cost: approx. 100 USD). Lunch. Drive on legendary “Panamericana” highway (by local bus) along the coast of Peru to Arequipa. Enjoying wonderful views, overnight in Arequipa.

5th day: Arequipa
Breakfast at your hotel. Visiting Arequipa (UNESCO World Heritage Site): Monastery of St. Catherine, Plaza de Armas, the Cathedral. Lunch. In the afternoon free time (we recommend you to walk around the city or purchase some goods made from alpaca). Overnight in Arequipa.

6th day: Arequipa – Colca Canyon – Chivay
Breakfast at your hotel. Drive to the famous Colca Canyon. The route goes through the pass at an altitude of about 4830 metres above sea level. Enjoying the view of snowy peaks of the volcanoes surrounding Arequipa, terraces and herds of grazing alpacas. Getting to the hotel in Chivay. Lunch box. Getting to the Colca Canyon, watching the royal condors circling over the canyon from a place called the “Cross of the Condors”, which offers the most beautiful view of the canyon. Session with a shaman in Chivay. Optionally trip to the hot springs of La Calera. Overnight in Chivay.

7th day: Chivay – Puno – Lake Titicaca – Uros Islands
Breakfast at your hotel. Transfer to city of Puno beautifully located on the side of Lake Titicaca. We will take a boat to the Uros – “the moving islands” on Lake Titicaca. Meeting with the residents. Back to Puno, dinner and overnight at your hotel.

8th day: Puno – Copacabana – La Paz
In the morning you will leave your main luggage at the hotel in Puno (pick up after 2 days). Please take with you the things you need for 2 days in a separate, small bag. Breakfast at your hotel. Drive via the scenic route along Lake Titicaca to Bolivia. On the way we will explore traditional villages of Chucuito (with fertility temple), Juli and Pomato. Stop in and visiting church in Copacabana. Arriving to La Paz – the capital city of Bolivia picturesquely situated at the altitude of almost 4000m above sea level. Dinner and overnight at your hotel.

9th day: La Paz
Breakfast at your hotel. Walking tour in La Paz: visiting church of St. Francis, streets of the Old Town, a visit to the Witches Market. Visit to The Moon Valley. Ride a cable car (urban transport for La Paz). Free evening. Dinner and overnight at your hotel.

10th day: La Paz – Puno
Breakfast at your hotel. Transfer to Puno by Desaguadero. Visiting Tiwa-naku (UNESCO World Heritage Site): the museum and the ruins of the city considered to be the oldest city in the world. We will see famous Sun Gate. Tiwanaku was the ancient capital, the religious and administrative center. Transfer to your hotel. Dinner. Overnight in Puno.

11th day: Puno – Cuzco
Breakfast at your hotel. Drive to Cuzco. On the way visiting the Temple of God Wiracocha and Andahuaylillas – beautiful colonial church. Dinner, overnight in Cuzco.

12th day: Cusco – Machu Picchu – Ollantaytambo
That day in the morning you will leave you luggage at the hotel in Cuzco (pick up on the next day). Please take with you the things you need for one day in a separate bag. Breakfast at your hotel. Full day excursion to Machu Picchu (UNESCO World Heritage Site) – explore the ruins of the legendary Inca city picturesquely situated on the slopes overgrown with tropical vegetation. Machu Picchu was discovered in 1911 by Hiram Bingham. Dinner, transfer to Ollantaytambo, overnight.

13th day: Cusco – Sacred Valley – Cuzco
Breakfast at your hotel. Visiting the fortress of Ollantaytambo. A trip to the Sacred Valley of Incas. We will drive beautiful route along the Urubamba River, watching ancient terraces , built by the Incas. A visit to The Indian market in Pisac. Return to Cusco. Dinner and overnight at your hotel.

14th day: Cuzco
Breakfast at your hotel. Full day city sightseeing of Cusco – the capital of the “State of the Sun” (Inca Empire) located in the Andes at an altitude of approximately 3.400 metres above sea level. Visiting The Old Town (UNESCO World Heritage Site): the Cathedral, the church of St. Francis and The Temple of the Sun – Cori-cancha. Visiting ruins from the times of the Incas: Sacsayhuaman, Kenco, Puca Pucara and Tambo Machaya. Dinner, overnight at Cuzco.

15th day: Cusco – Lima – flight back
Breakfast at your hotel. Transfer to the airport, flight to Lima. Flight back to your destination.

16th day: Flight back
Arrival to your destination.
