JAPAN: The best of Japan (14 days)

1st day: flight to Tokyo
Meeting at the airport, departure to Tokyo.

2nd day: flight to Tokyo – Tokyo
Arrival to Tokyo. Upon arrival meeting with the guide and transfer to the city. Visiting park next to the Imperial Palace and observation deck of Tokyo Tower (height of 333 metres) which offers a panoramic view of the city. Short tour to Odaiba island and drive to Ginza – Tokyo’s the most popular shopping street. Transfer to the hotel, dinner. Overnight in Tokyo.

3rd day: Tokyo
Breakfast at your hotel. Full day Tokyo sightseeing tour by public transportation. Visiting Asakusa – one of the oldest temples in Tokyo, free time on Nakamise shopping street. Transfer to the Meiji Shrine at Yoyogi Park, Harajuku fashion district, then walk around the shopping boulevard of Omotesando. Walk through Shinjuku – famous red lights district. Enjoying Tokyo’s panorama from one of the highest floors of the Metropolitan Government Building. Dinner, back to the hotel. Overnight in Tokyo.

4th day: Tokyo – Nikko – Tokyo
Breakfast at your hotel. Transfer to Nikko by train. Visiting temples of Rinnoji and Toshogu – one of the most famous temples from times of Shogun Tokugawa Ieyasu (UNESCO World Heritage Site). Lunch, back to Tokyo by train. Overnight in Tokyo.

5th day: Tokyo – Kamakura – Tokyo
Breakfast at your hotel. Drive to Kamakura, the former capital of the shogunate. Sightseeing tour: visiting Hasedera Temple, in which we will see a 9-meter high wooden statue of the Goddess of Mercy “Hase Kannon”, Kotokuin temple with 11-meter statue of Buddha (Daibutsu). Short walk on the Komachi shopping street, lunch. On the way back to Tokyo, a visit to Yokohama harbour area. Back to your hotel, overnight in Tokyo.

6th day: Tokyo – Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park – Lake Kawaguchi
Breakfast at your hotel. A trip to Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park. Transfer to Hakone and about half an hour cruise on the Lake Ashi. Transfer to the 5th station on Mount Fuji. Overnight in Kawaguchi.

7th day: Lake Kawaguchi – Takayama
Breakfast at your hotel. Transfer to the city of Takayama located in Japanese Alps. Walking tour on the old streets of Takayama. Visiting Jinya house, Matsuri Yatai Kaikan – Takayama festival floats exhibition hall and Kusakabe House. Dinner, overnight in Takayama.

8th day: Takayama – Shirakawa – Gokayama – Kanazawa
In the morning you will leave your main luggage at the hotel in Takayama (we will transfer it to Kyoto, you will pick it up next day). Please take with you the things you need for 1 day in a separate, small bag. Breakfast at your hotel. Walking tour on the streets of local morning market. Transfer to Shirakawa (UNESCO World Heritage Site) where we will see a group of 300-400 years old traditional houses. Visiting Wada family house. Drive to Gokayama (UNESCO World Heritage Site) – visiting traditional paper making factory. Lunch. Transfer by bus to Kanazawa. Overnight in Kanazawa.

9th day: Kanazawa – Hikone – Kyoto
Breakfast at your hotel. Walking tour in Kanazawa: a visit to Kenrokuen, considered one of the most beautiful Japanese gardens and Nagamachi samurai district. Here we will see many typical samurai houses and visit to one of them. Transfer by train to Hikone, visit to the castle from Edo period (with origins dated back to 1603) – one of the treasures of Japanese culture and history. Transfer to Kyoto by train. Dinner, overnight in Kyoto.

10th day: Kyoto
Breakfast at your hotel. Visiting to the ancient capital of Japan – Kyoto. The historical part of the city is listed by UNESCO. Full day Kyoto sightseeing tour: Nijo Castle, Golden Pavilion Kinkakuji, temple Sanjusangendo, Heian Shrine and Kiyomizu-dera. Lunch. In the evening walking on the streets of famous Gion – district of geishas. Participation in a performance with elements of traditional Japanese music and theatre. Overnight in Kyoto.

11th day: Kyoto – Osaka – Nara – Fushimi – Kyoto
Breakfast at your hotel. Transfer to famous Osaka castle and to Nara – the first capital of Japan (UNESCO World Heritage Site). A visit to Kasuga Taisha (Shinto religion temple) and to Todaiji, which is one of the largest wooden structures in the world. We will see here 16 metres high bronze Buddha statue. Lunch. Drive to Fushimi and visit to Fushimi Inari temple famous for many of tori gates. Back to Kyoto. Overnight in Kyoto.

12th day: Kyoto – Hiroshima – Miyajima
In the morning you will leave your main luggage at the hotel in Kyoto (we will transfer it to Osaka, you will pick it up next day). Please take with you the things you need for 1 day in a separate, small bag. Breakfast at your hotel. Travel by shinkansen train to Hiroshima and visit to the city by tram: Peace Park and museum dedicated to the victims of the atomic bomb (UNESCO World Heritage Site). In the afternoon we will take the local train and ferry to Miyajima and transfer you by bus to the traditional Japanese hotel – ryokan. Traditional Japanese dinner. Overnight in ryokan in Miyajima.

13th day: Miyajima – Hiroshima – Osaka
Traditional Japanese breakfast at your ryokan. Walking tour on Miyajima: visiting Itsukushima shrine (UNESCO World Heritage Site). We will visit to standing in the water tori gate – one of the symbols and “the most beautifull views” of Japan. Transfer by ferry, local train and shinkansen train to Osaka. Lunch during the day. In the evening free time in Osaka.

14th day: Osaka – flight back
Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to the airport for flight back to your destination. Arrival to your destination.
