FIJI: Fiji adventure trip (15 days)

1st: flight to Nadi

Meeting at the airport, departure to Fiji.

2nd day: flight to Nadi – Nadi

Early in the morning arrival in Fiji, transfer to the hotel. Drive to the centre of Nadi: visit the historic Dravidian temple – the biggest Hindu temple in southern hemisphere and local market. Welcome dinner. Overnight in Nadi.

3rd day: Nadi – Abaca – Koroyanitu National Park – Navala – Nadi

Breakfast. Full day tour, first local public bus, and then by chartered 4WD jeep to Koroyanitu National Park. Despite the wonderful landscapes, only about 100 visitors per month are coming to this place! A visit to the Fijian village of Abaca. In the afternoon drive to the town of Ba and then through the scenic highlands region of Nausori to the Navala, where we will see the original, very old wooden buildings of traditional Fijian village. The meeting with the chief. We will ask him for permission to walk inside the village. We must to pass sevusevu ceremony, with presentation of a gift for the village community and to the protective spirits. Most valued gift for the chief is kava – the herbs of Piper methysticum. Dinner, late in the evening return to the hotel for an overnight stay in Nadi.

4th day: Nadi – Sigatoka – Tavuni – Suva

Breakfast. Drive on Queen Road along the southern coast of the island of Viti Levu to town of Sigatoka. Here we will see the biggest sand dune in Fiji, which has become a part of the oldest national park in the country. Walk to the top of the 5 km-long sand dune, then drive to Tavuni fort built in the eighteenth century by the chief Maile Latumani, originally coming from Tonga. We will learn about the turbulent history of warring kingdoms Fiji and Tonga. In the afternoon we visit Kula Eco Park, in which we will see the most important endemic species of plants and animals occurred in Fiji, including Fiji banded iguana and Fiji crested iguana. In the evening we will drive on the picturesque Korolevu Coral Coast via Pacific Harbour and Navua (with stunning views of the islands of Beqa and Yanuca) to Suva – Fiji’s capital. Dinner. Overnight in Suva.

5th day: Suva – Colo-i-Suva Nature Reserve – Leleuvia

Breakfast. In the morning cultural walk in Suva – the largest city in the South Pacific. Suva is a very charming city. We will visit the local bazaar with products of handicrafts, numerous monuments of the colonial era, the Clock Tower, the Catholic Cathedral and Fiji Museum – the most important museum in the country with an excellent collection of Fijian indigenous art. Around noon we drive to Colo-i-Suva Nature Reserve established to protects a unique part of the rainforest. Nature hike through the park. Bathing in a small lake situated in the middle of the rainforest, hiking to the waterfall. Transfer to the harbour, where we will board the boat heading to Leleuvia, small island located on Lomaivitis archipelago. Leleuvia is a palm-covered coral island, with beautiful beaches. We will stay in a only one on the island small hotel build in a style of bure – traditional wooden cottages. During the stay on Leleuvia guests can use for free kayaks. Dinner and overnight on the island.

6th day: Leleuvia

Breakfast. One day free on Leleuvia. Optional snorkeling or diving on the island. Overnight in a small hotel build in the style of bure – traditional wooden cottages. Lunch and dinner on the island.

7th day: Leleuvia – Levuka

Breakfast. About 90 minutes boat trip to Levuka (UNESCO World Heritage Site) – the former capital of Fiji located on the island of Ovalau (Lomaivitis archipelago). We will stay in a hotel build in a half of the nineteenth century. Short walk on old colonial era streets of Levuka, visit to the most important churches and sights: Nasov’s House, Bure of the Province, local museum, Masonic Lodge, the nineteenth-century pub. The town is inhabited by just 3000 people, with many descendants of British settlers. Walking on the Levuka streets is like moving into the past, as city really looks like it is half of nineteenth century. Dinner. Overnight in Levuka.

8th day: Levuka – Lovoni -Levuka

Breakfast. In the afternoon, tour to the heart of the island. Walking tour through the rainforest with a unique natural lesson – learning about the plants growing on the island and how they can be used for the folk medicine. A visit to the village of Lovoni situated on the crater of an extinct volcano. We will listen legends and stories passed from one generation to another. Traditional Fijian dinner prepared on the basis of plants growing in the rainforest. Back to Levuka for overnight.

9th day: Levuka – Savusavu

Early in the morning transfer to Levuka harbour. We will take a ferry heading through the turquoise waters of the Pacific to Vanua Levu, the second largest island of Fiji. Surprisingly very few tourists come here. The island is a hidden treasure of natural beauty, with simply and traditional way of live in a local villages and very tasty food. Transfer by bus to Savusavu – small harbour town which is the “capital of the island.” Short walk on the streets of Savusavu. Dinner. Overnight in Savusavu.

10th day: Savusavu – Waisali Rainforest Reserve

Breakfast. In the morning trip to stunning Waisali Rainforest Reserve, where we go in the short trekking to the picturesque waterfall. Around noon we will be back to Savusavu. Free afternoon. Dinner. Overnight in Savusavu.

11th day: Savusavu – Matei (Taveuni) – diving on the Rainbow Reef

Breakfast. We take a bus and local ferry to Taveuni, known as a “Garden Island”. Transfer to the International Date Line monument, build on the meridian of 180 degrees. Focused on nature excursion in Taveuni. The island preserved rainforest with many endemic species. We will make around 3 hours trekking on Lavena Coastal Walk. It is a place where rainforest meets wonderful beach. Swimming in the crystal clear water in a small lake under the waterfall. Possibility of another trekking on Bouma, Tavoro and Wainibau waterfalls trails (another 2-3 hours). Dinner, overnight on Taveuni island.

12th day: Taveuni: free day for diving / snorkeling on Rainbow Reef

Breakfast. Free day on Taveuni island. Optionally diving or snorkeling at Rainbow Reef, which is considered one of the most beautiful reefs of the South Pacific. Dinner, overnight on Taveuni island.

13th day: Taveuni – Nadi

Breakfast. Transfer to the airport for flight to Nadi by light aircraft. On good weather you will enjoy view of the picturesque reefs and islands from the air. Transfer to the hotel, dinner. Overnight in Nadi.

14th day: Nadi – Mamanucas and Yasawas

Breakfast. About 8 hours cruise to situated northwest of Viti Levu island archipelagos Mamanucas and Yasawas. Enjoying views of small coral islands and reefs in Mamanucas archipelago and volcanic panorama of Yasawas archipelago. Dinner. Overnight in Nadi.

15th day: Nadi – departure to your destination

Breakfast. Transfer to the airport in Nadi, departure to your destination. Arrival to your destination.
